Worked with CML to replace two gable vents and the fascia trim on our home. The gable vents were functional but I did not like the way they didn’t fit in the space and had a slat of wood to fill the rectangle (photo below). Chris provided the estimate and was very professional and easy to work with. He gave an estimate including an extra $975 for any potential wood rot under the fascia so if anything the project would cost less than the quote if there was no wood rot. Although CML was not the most affordable of the quotes I received, I chose them based on their 5 star reviews and because I trusted Chris. I paid the deposit and waited to be scheduled. Weeks later I received a call from Leo asking to start the project the following morning. We were going out of town but we were assured this wasn’t a problem. Two days later while still away, we were sent the invoice to pay and it included the full $975 to replace the wood if there was any rot. I asked if there had been rot and if not if this could be adjusted. Leo said there had been no rot and had the invoice adjusted quickly although I would’ve been out nearly a grand if I hadn’t been observant which is not a great feeling. I paid the invoice prior to arriving home as I felt badly delaying but this ended up being a mistake. When we got home I sent the picture below to Leo as I was really frustrated that the vent looked improperly installed/crooked and that they didn’t use a larger size vent to fill the rectangle which was the entire reason we were replacing them. Leo said they didn’t know without being able to go in our home how much space there was and if they could use a larger size so they just used the smaller one and replaced the wood with PVC. He assured me that he would send someone over to evaluate and told me they would fix it and replace them with the correct, larger size vents as we have the space internally. However, no one ever came. I texted multiple times as well as left a voicemail. He replied initially saying he had to look into it but eventually just completely ghosted me. I’m left frustrated and regretful that I chose CML every time I pull into my driveway and see the gable vents and think about the money I wasted on this project.
We recently had extensive exterior work done by CML Roofing & General Contracting, including new siding, rot repair, and a back door replacement, and the entire experience was outstanding from start to finish. The PVC blocking they installed made a noticeable difference in the overall finish, and the super corners tied the exterior together beautifully. They also covered the fascia with trim coil, which not only gave the roofline a clean and polished look but also provides important protection against future rot, giving us real peace of mind. He listened to every concern, communicated clearly throughout the project, and consistently went above and beyond to make sure we were happy at every stage. His customer service is truly top tier.The crew was just as impressive. They were professional, punctual, and incredibly hardworking, even in the middle of a Maine winter. They showed up every day in freezing temperatures and still delivered flawless work without ever slowing down. Their dedication really proved that CML can handle projects year round.Part of our project also includes painting our exterior brick, which CML will be completing in the spring, and they will also be replacing our gutter soon. They provided everything they said they would and without any discussion! Because we could not be there for our new roof installation, we had to put our trust in them and they did not disappoint!
